SSZ and Vans work in collaboration on a new iteration of the signature Old Skool sneakers -- designer Tadayuki Kato gives the classic model a construction makeover. The new version made its debut on Instagram and it draws strong design inspiration from the overall aesthetics of SSZ. To evoke the same essence, the sneakers get a vintage makeover with a deconstructed finish.
The highlighting element of the new look lies at the tongue tab, as it is now finished in a dual-layer. The second tongue boasts reversed design sensibilities to show off the interior details. The same concept is complete over the lace guard with cream-tonal uppers. To round it all out, the waffle outsoles are clear with black calf leather making up the ankle.
