The SPACEPLATES Greenhouse by N55 and Anne Romme is geometric. This structure works as a greenhouse and classroom, and was completed in 2012. It is located in a parking lot at the South Bristol Skills Academy in Bristol, UK.
Greenhouses have varied climates to allow plants and food to grow in places where they would normally not surive. SPACEPLATES uses a pure plate structure to create its curvature and has a strong thin exterior. It was constructed from four-millimeter aluminum plates screwed together with acrylic windows. The structure uses modern technology that resembles five giant connected bubbles with natural geometries like a sea urchin's shell. Another SPACEPLATES Greenhouse is being constructed in Prags Have, Copenhagen and will open the summer or fall of 2012.
