The Felt Stool is a soft furniture piece that is folded so that fabric—a material that's typically used for upholstery—becomes integral to the stool's structure.
The unusual Felt Stools were designed by Moorhead & Moorhead and manufactured by Lerival, featuring felt that has been folded over and clipped in place with rivets so that it holds its shape. The pieces are truly like origami furniture pieces, but made with felt instead of any kind of paper. Although it seems like there must be some kind of internal support system to keep things upright, the rivets and super thick felt are the only components of this unusual seating system. The highly impressive triangular-shaped saddle seats are now part of MoMA’s Permanent Collection of Architecture & Design.
