London-based photographer Ian Teh is known for his interest in political, social and environmental issues. Inspired by creating sublime narratives, he explores each series as a fabric woven by colors and compositions. His latest photo journalistic series is called China: Undercurrents where he snaps pictures of cities, factories and the streets near the Chinese border between North Korea and Russia.
He combines his passion and photographs snapshots of Chinese environmental, political and social stills. This collection of photographs tell a subtle story of the developing country, cities that provide refuge for Russian expats and tourists alike. Near the North Korean border, we are struck with images of a ghost town, devoid of people.
Ian commented on his series as "an exploration of the surreal lives that exist in these artificial places, special economic zones that have been created by governmental mandates."
