Ken Doll Editorials

The Snap! Magazine Summer 2012 Issue Captures the Life of the Mattel Toy

The SNAP! Magazine Summer 2012 Issue creates a life-sized Ken. In this issue the Canadian art, fashion and culture magazine SNAP! focuses on all things blonde. And nothing says blonde more than the male Mattel doll Ken.

This editorial transforms model Felix Lalonde into Ken. Shot by photographer Shayne Laverdière, the viewer is taken through Ken's everyday from banal tasks to working out -- a lot.

No matter what activity Ken is up to, the clean-cut gent looks great. Preppily outfitted by stylist Patrick Vimbor, even while grocery shopping Ken looks polished. The clothing does have a retro vibe with the traditionalist Ken styled in monochromatic outfit schemes.

The editorial opens up Ken's life, yet only leaves one question for the viewer, where is Barbie?
