NOEM designed and built a prefabricated smart home for a couple in Spain in a mere ten weeks.
The use of prefabricated wooden modules ensured that the construction process could be done as quickly as it was, not to mention that the finished property would be both comfortable and energy efficient. One of the home's two wooden modules is dedicated to facilities and practical uses, while the second module houses an open space that leads out towards the terrace.
Furthermore, the Smart home is controlled by a mobile device; for instance, in the winter, the home's S-SE orientation moderates its thermal levels. Meanwhile, in the summertime, the house is equipped with several sunscreens to ensure comfort in warmer temperatures. To reduce the CO2 footprint of the home, the architects opted for local wood and insulation, along with low-emission paint and materials. Other energy costs are kept low with passive cooling methods and dual flow ventilation.
