Wound-Healing Smart Dressings

The DermaTrax Dressing Heals Wounds Safely and Quickly

The DermaTrax is a smart dressing technology that is aiming to speed up and make more efficient the manner in which we treat our wounds and get them to heal.

Developed by the ever-productive medical engineers over at the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany, the DermaTrax is capable of monitoring patients' wounds when it is in place, meaning less in-person inspections are required in hospital and clinical settings. It is fitted with a variety of sensors that monitor the state of the wound an the dressing itself, with information relayed back to the nurses' station. THis allows nurses to monitor the wound from afar and respond if something's wrong.

In addition to being a simply more convenient dressing than typical gauze or other materials, the DermaTrax would also reduce the time and cost associated with wound-healing.
