Cambodia's Sleuk Rith Institute is Designed By Zaha Hadid

The Sleuk Rith Institute, a building which will serve as the headquarters for the Documentation Center of Cambodia, is also set to become world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid's first big wood-based project. The Documentation Center was created to document the atrocities of the Cambodia's brutal Khmer Rouge regime.

The project will include a massive memorial park as well as sports fields, orchards and traditional Cambodian sculptures.

The materials used to construct the Sleuk Rith Institute will consist largely of sustainably sourced timber, and will be equipped with roof-based photovoltaic cells as well as a solar thermal array for hot water. It will also be fitted with water treatment facilities and heat exchangers.

Construction on the institute is set to begin some time next year.
