'Skippen' is the name of a new cashless store concept on the Hogeschool Utrecht University campus in the Netherlands that appeals to the busy, time-starved student.
The store concept makes it possible for student shoppers to download a companion app in order to effortlessly purchase in-store goods and bypass the conventional cash register. With the app in hand, the campus' young consumers are able to scan items as they move throughout the store via a QR code, add them to their cart and pay when they are ready with the online payment solution Tikkie.
Over time, the system will collect relevant consumer data to offer personalized deals, as well as other pertinent product details, such as potential allergens or calorie counts.
