As part of the NextGen Cup Challenge, Closed Loop Partners is addressing the issue of single-use coffee cup waste with trackable reusable cups that can be borrowed from businesses. As part of a pilot program, a handful of coffee shops in San Francisco and Palo Alto will be introducing smart mugs from CupClub.
Often, the burden falls on the consumer to remember their reusable items but this program offers a way for people and businesses to work together. Thanks to CupClub’s use of RFID technology, coffee shop customers will be able to order a drink without generating waste and may return the cup at one of the many conveniently placed and easily spotted drop-off points.
