'Simply Solid' is the name of a beautiful new collection of swimsuits from Volcom. At a first glance, the simplistic colors and silhouettes will appeal to those with an eye for bold minimalist designs, but there's more to appreciate in these thoughtful swimsuit designs.
Volcom's Simply Solid line is accompanied by a tagline that reads: "Caught up in a good thing," which reveals more about the making of the garments themselves. For Simply Solid, Volcom teamed up fabric company Aquafil, which manufactures 'Econyl,' a lightweight textile material that's composed of 100% regenerated nylon waste from abandoned fishing nets, production scraps and even carpet fluff.
It's estimated that there's about 640,000 tons of abandoned fishing nets in the ocean, which is incredibly wasteful as well as harmful to animals and birds of the sea. By avoiding the use of virgin fibers, Volcom created a meaningful collection that fully supports its investment in ocean sports.
