It nearly looks as though the photographs from Sierra Nevada might have come from two different editorials, given the slight variation in setting, styling and mood between the images of the two models.
The photos of Nyasha Matonhodze have a pensive quality to them, paired with careful attention to her elegant and contemporary ensembles. Samuel François' styling of Anais Pouliot, however, strikes a very gothic 19th century aesthetic with full-length black skirts, pleated high-neck blouses and pigtail braids. The two of them pose with a very different air amidst a set that creeps from grassy pasture down to eroded rock and sand. With her glittering ruby face paint, Nyasha seems to be ignorant of the camera, but Anais acts like she needs its focus. Lensed by Sofia Sanchez & Mauro Mongiello for the October 2011 Numero France #127, this collection of spreads is enchanting and dynamic.
