Self-Extinguishing Candlesticks

'The Moment' is a Cast-Iron Candle Holder from Maison&Objet 2015

This self-extinguishing candlestick is one of the first buzzworthy innovations revealed at Maison&Objet 2015. Entitled 'The Moment,' the cast-iron candle holder was created by Norwegian designer Lars Beller Fjetland for Wrong for Hay. Wrong for Hay is the name of the collaborative range from Danish brand Hay and British designer Sebastian Wrong.

The clever device makes great use of gravity and is controlled by a pendulum to which a needle is attached. The one end of the pendulum with the needle is inserted into one side of the wax near the bottom of the candle. The needle is slowly released as the candle burns, a mechanism that can be adjusted based on the size of the candle.
