Password-Predicting Bots

Microsoft Research's Telepathwords Guesses Your Password as You Type

Telepathwords is a truly telepathic new project from Microsoft Research, aimed at helping to create more secure passwords. Some of the most common passwords used in the world are things like the word "password" itself and simple number codes like "123456." As much as users know that these are the types of passwords that they should steer clear of, they’re simpler to remember than completely randomized strings of numbers and letters.

After typing in the first letter or number of a typical password you use, (Microsoft insists it’s secure) Telepathwords will attempt to predict the next number or letter in the password, just as a hacker might be able to.

If you’re a fan of complex alphanumeric passwords, you might want to try your luck and see if you can beat Telepathwords at its own game.
