SearchInk is a startup out of Berlin that aims to solve one of the final hurdles of text searching. While people can of course search through text on digital documents, and systems have even arisen to allow for digitizing and searching through typewritten documents, no such thing exists for handwriting. SearchInk hopes to be the program to make searching through handwriting digitally a reality.
The program uses proprietary 'Handwritten Text Recognition' technology to convert handwritten text into a searchable document. That means that, once a document has been scanned, users could search for any keyword or group of keywords in the same way that they do for a PDF.
Not only will SearchInk read and scan through handwriting, but its software uses machine learning to improve as it gathers more examples over time.
