Each piece in the COCOONS cabinet series by designer Marlène Huissoud is a true example of a sculpted work of art. The aesthetic of the furniture is rather sleek, elegant and bubbly, with notes of German Expressionism. The material of the extravagant furniture really shines through, however. The French designer makes her pieces through the accumulation of thousands of silkworm cocoons that are "varnished with a thin layer of a natural honeybee bio resin."
Marlène Huissoud's creation process is very slow and delicate. Throughout, she takes time to emphasize the beauty of the material, as well as ensures that the worm is unharmed during the assembly process.
