Scottish designer Catherine Aitken launched her latest line of locally sourced accessories in preparation for the festival season. The internationally acclaimed designer who’s previously showcased in New York, Hong Kong and Canada has become synonymous for beautiful homegrown design. Her latest collection is an eclectic mix of Harris Tweed, Fife Linens and waxed cottons, produced and locally sourced where possible. Catherine Aitken is known for using high quality textiles to create well-made goods.
The hepburn backpack and explorer messenger from Catherine’s new collection were recently shot by Glasgow-based photographer Nuala Swan for SYN magazine and 2016 sees Aitken busier than ever. As she works on her newest collection of bespoke Harris Tweed, she also begins the process of designing her own cloth to be digitally printed, all the while working with Zero Waste Scotland on sustainable designs.
