7-Eleven's Scan and Pay Program Modernizes the Iconic Chain

Cashierless stores are all about convenience and now 7-Eleven is getting in on new technology with its Scan and Pay pilot program. Already available at 14 locations in Dalla, Texas, the program will eventually launch to more cities in 2019 in an attempt to create a fully cashierless store. The Scan and Pay program will allow customers to purchase various items, excluding items that require human assistance such as hot foods, financial services, alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets and other age-verified products.

To take advantage of the Scan and Pay program, users simply need to download the 7-Eleven app and sign up for the 7Rewards loyalty program. The scanning option will only activate in an eligible store and will utilize a phone's camera to register the items purchased.
