Macy's 'Say Yes to the Prom' Initiative Helps Underserved Students

This year, Macy's teamed up with TLC's 'Say Yes to the Prom' initiative to provide dresses and tuxedos for deserving students. Not only did the initiative help underserved students enjoy the prom night of their dreams, but everyone else was able to enjoy the stories as part of a TV special aired on TLC.

While the Say Yes to the Prom initiative has been around for some time, Macy's was "the first-ever premier retail partner" to join the cause. As a partner, Macy's created an exclusive shop-in-shop in the store's Juniors department. The shop featured 28 different styles of dresses from Bee Darlin and City Triangles, as well as necklaces, bracelets, earrings and hair pieces by K&M Accessories. For each dress sold, Macy's donated a dress to a nonprofit called Becca’s Closet. The retailer also provided more than 2,500 dresses for high-achieving students and one-on-one style sessions in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Silver Spring, Maryland.
