Intricate Salt Portraits

Artist Dino Tomic Creates Erasable Artwork with Salt

In a creative solution to the cramped wrists he would have to deal with from drawing, Croatian tattoo artist decided instead to make salt portraits as a way to express himself.

The artwork is just large black surfaces that are used as a background for the salt that Tomic uses to create his images. The artist's interesting technique is likely more fragile and easily disturbed than most pieces of art, but the result is large, intricate pieces of artwork that almost appear as black and white photos.

The most fascinating of the artist's work includes his drawings of characters from the popular fantasy series Game of Thrones. With just a black backdrop and a large quantity of table salt, this artist was able to recapture the characters extremely realistically in his salt portraits.
