'MAS // Design Consultancy' collaborated with designer Bart Nagel to create the packaging and branding for this line of South African tea that features a quirky rock badger mascot.
'Dassie Rooibos' is an non-caffeinated rooibos tea sold in the Netherlands that comes in an extra fine grind so it can be used in espresso machines. The tea is marketed as a healthier alternative to coffee and features a South African rock badger called 'Dassie' as the brand's main image. The mascot has a cheeky and optimistic attitude and talks directly to the consumer in both a South African tone and style of voice.
The packaging itself is screen printed on resealable craft paper and colored in vibrant hues with the image of 'Dassie' on full display. The concept for the packaging itself was inspired by both the bright colors and raw materials found in the suburbs of South Africa.
