River Pool is an art installation made by Hungarian artist Otto Vincze, which can be found floating in Venice's river. The display features a plethora of floating pool balls, each a different color and number, resting atop the water by the docks. The inflatable balls move gently when they're rocked by a passing boat, or heightened wind. The set of pool balls is complemented aptly by two white balls, one of which features the iconic lion of Venice, while the other features patriarchal cross of Szentendre, Hungary.
The two century-old symbols suggest "a multi-layered parallel between the connected histories of these two merchant cities," and also represent "commerce on the water." This playful installation, which is enriching Venice's waters, alludes to the rich legacy and connection between the two cultures. Photo Credits: designboom, artsy.net
