'Gett' is an Israeli ride-hailing app that makes it easier for visually impaired users to access rideshare services. The accessible app was partially developed by Adi Kushner, who has begun a mission to make technology more accessible for blind individuals.
The app operates according to a similar structure as the popular rideshare app 'Uber.' However, Gett differs from Uber in that it is accessible for blind people. In order to make it possible for the visually impaired to use the app, Gett enabled the app to work with Apple's built-in VoiceOver technology. The app will read information out loud so that users can scroll through the app's different features without needed to see the screen itself.
Beyond the ride-hailing app, Kushner hopes that more companies will figure out ways of making their products more accessible for the visually impaired.
