The Zhu Jinshi 'Boat' is a 12 Meter-Long Rice Paper Construction

Artist Zhu Jinshi, known for his abstract works, created a massive rice paper construction that stretches to 12 meters in length.

Also incorporating bamboo and cotton thread into his installation, the artist used 8,000 sheets of rice paper and a delicate and edible parchment made from the fibers of a small tree. Creating something so expansive and substantial out of such thin and paltry sheets of material, Jinshi demonstrates the importance of even the smallest of elements and how they can come together to become larger than life.

Zhu Jinshi spent many hours on his monumental rice paper construction, giving it incredible depth with layers upon layers of sheer rice paper in order to achieve a visually compelling and expressive masterpiece.
