Sustainable Seaweed Diapers

Luisa Kahlfeldt's Reusable Cloth Diapers are Made with SeaCell

Plenty of parents make it a priority to purchase reusable cloth diapers and the Sumo style by Luisa Kahlfeldt is even more eco-friendly than most. The innovative design is made with SeaCell, a fabric made with the fibres of seaweed and eucalyptus—which means that the material is naturally antibacterial and better for a young child's skin.

The design represents an alternative to single-use diapers and is comprised of three layers: a soft, absorbent inner, an absorbent core and a waterproof, leak-proof outer. With technology from Swiss textile company Schoeller, the diapers remain waterproof without compromising their ability to be washed, biodegraded or recycled.

To ensure a comfortable fit, the reusable cloth diapers were crafted to give them a natural stretch.

The inventive design of the Sumo diapers won the Swiss James Dyson Award.
