Sony Acquires Repeat.gg in an Effort to Bolster Its Esports Presence

Sony has acquired esports tournament platform Repeat.gg. With this acquisition, Sony hopes to bolster PlayStation’s impact in the competitive esports industry and give its dedicated customer base access to "more resources, game titles, and technology." The brand has also recently acquired stakes in EVO, the world’s largest fighting game tournament, back in 2021.

Sony advises that while the deal will primarily focus on the PlayStation platform, the Repeat.gg platform will also continue to support tournaments and game competitions for other platforms, including PC, mobile, and other consoles.

"Together with the talented Repeat.gg team, we’re excited to explore more ways for players to engage in competitive gaming and expand the breadth of our esports offerings," said Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Steven Roberts. "This is just the start of our journey and we look forward to sharing more updates with our community in the future."
