ALDI Introduced Recycled Plastic Bottles for Water and Soda

ALDI has announced 100% recycled plastic bottles will be used for its private label range of soft drinks and bottled waters in a bid to reduce its use of virgin packaging materials. The packaging update will put rPET material in the spotlight for all of the brand's own-brand beverages with the products only using virgin materials for the label and the cap. The initiative comes as a first for the UK grocery market and is expected to save roughly 10,000-tonnes of virgin plastic from being used on a yearly basis.

Plastics and Packaging Director at ALDI UK Luke Emery spoke on the recycled plastic bottles saying, "Moving to recycled content on our soft drinks range forms part of our efforts to accelerate our progress on this journey. We also hope the new labelling we are introducing will help to remind customers to recycle their packaging after use so we can all do our bit to increase recycling rates in the UK."
