Rectangular houses are a popular architectural choice for minimalist contemporary dwellings. The Dock House by Chilean studio SAA Arquitectura + Territorio is no different. However, the silhouette of the structure does bear some interesting design features.
The building is located in Pichicuy which is a town in Chile's Valparaíso region. The site is minutes away from the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The terrain is slopped and for many architects — this is a challenge. SAA Arquitectura + Territorio overcame this by placing the rectangular house on angled stilts to accommodate the irregular plot. The single-story building is elegantly accented by its support system and the elevation allows for residents to experience breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
