Raw Coffee Shop Interiors

Yusuke Seki's Design for a Japanese Cafe Boasts Exposed Concrete Walls

The interior of a space in Kobe, Japan has intentionally been left unfinished to evoke the ambiance of a raw coffee shop. The establishment goes under the name 'Voice of Coffee' and the design firm responsible for its appearance is Tokyo-based firm Yusuke Seki.

Upon entering the cafe, guests are met with the edgy detailing of "exposed wooden bricks and unfinished breeze block walls." In a sense, Yusuke Seki brings about the epitome of industrial minimalism with the raw coffee shop interior. The process of revealing and embracing the unpolished is a way that one can pay homage to heritage via design. In addition, Voice of Coffee benefits from the openness and concrete ambiance of the space, as each imperfect detail is strongly accentuated by the bareness of the space.
