Eric Pautz has taken the classic design of the Rubik’s Cube and created two versions of the toy as a lamp. The light’s 63 blocks are divided into three rotating layers that add to the authentic look.
The Rubik’s lamp prototype has been built by Paultz in two different versions. One is a modern looking uncoloured style with each side finished in a different texture to distinguish them from one another. The second version is a more traditional multi-coloured spinning block that throws dynamic shadows on the floor surrounding the cube light.
I’d love to see these produced in varying sizes for tabletop and even multiple cubes hanging as a cluster pendant light.
