Solar-Powered Beacons

Fujitsu's Newest Proximity Technology is Powered by the Sun

Aiming to make beacons the best they can be, Fujitsu is approaching proximity technology from a perspective of sustainability. Weighing in at just 3 grams and measuring barely 2.5 millimeters in thickness, this beacon boasts a lightweight and versatile shape that can be attached to clothing, corners and curved surfaces. To top all of these impressive features off, the beacon is powered by the sun. Rather than requiring a small battery that will need to be replaced on a routine basis, the solar-powered beacon just needs a light source to function.

From marketing to home use, as the applications for beacons become more diverse, Fujitsu's developments will bring flexibility to existing proximity technology. Fujitsu has plans to make this device commercially available in 2017.
