For budding fashion designers and retailers, reaching your customers is intensely difficult amidst the competition, but Project Pop-Up has been launched by New York City to help in that regard.
Project Pop-Up, the brainchild of the New York City’s Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), Diane von Furstenberg, Terry Lundgren and Andrew Rosen, will be an annual competition and reality show that provides the winners with their own pop-up shops in Manhattan. These pop-up shops will help the new fashion retailers promote and sell their wares to "accelerate the growth of budding fashion retail concepts," says a spokesman for NYCEDC, which is putting $175,000 into the project.
Project Pop-Up will help new fashion designer and businesses by giving them mentoring, marketing help, tech support, assistance in legal and accounting and best of all, retail space to display their offerings. The winners will be chosen through a competition that will be judged by industry experts.
