'Project Nourished' is the name of a "gastronomical virtual reality experience" for all the senses.
The experience is in development by a team of scientists, designers, foodies and engineers and involves serving 3D-printed meals alongside VR technology. During the experience, aromatic diffusers emit scents and a bone conduction transducer worn on the back of the head and mimics the sounds and feelings of chewing. The environments can also be controlled through virtual reality, making participants feel as through they're in completely different settings.
Diners will actually be eating 3D-printed foods that have been made from flavorless gelatinous agar agar, which is heightened in terms of taste by activating the other senses. As of now, Project Nourished is working to perfect a tasting menu of sushi, steak, lasagna and pie.
