Bent Tubular Illuminators

The Porcelain Chandelier Has a Crooked Sense of Material and Form

The traditional concept of a candelabra is left behind with this intriguing contemporary piece called the Porcelain Chandelier. It uses lighbulbs instead of candles and has abandoned the elegant cascading shape accented with twinkling lights in favor of a futuristic pixelated inspiration.

Abel Lakatos assembled this piece as a cluster of squared ceramic tubes that extends straight towards the floor before a slight bend redirects each of the flues to a different angle. Varying lengths of the pipes below the kink increase the visual intrigue of the Porcelain Chandelier with a crisp choppiness from which illumination escapes. But while the clean, rigid and industrial shapes of the lighting fixture give it great appeal, it's the organic properties of the glowing ceramic that make it magical.
