One of the world's most famous opera houses, the 'Sydney Opera House,' brought new excitement to its showcase by creating a pop-up opera outdoors. 'Madame Buttefly' is being held outside, amongst the Sydney, Australia skylines and waters.
Theater productions are already dramatic, but this outdoor set-up adds even more. The opera is being performed across an open-air stage that is 144 feet by 95 feet. Glowing orbs in the harbor represent the sun and the moon and to cap off the performance, there are nightly explosions of fireworks.
The Sydney production, featuring an international cast of 60 artists from 11 countries, is going on until April 13. It already boasts huge success with nightly crowds of 3,000 in attendance to watch the classic love story about an American Naval officer and his Japanese bride.
