Architect Marcelo Dantas created a pop-up bridge that covers the Fonte Luminosa water fountain in Lisbon. The bridge -- titled Lisbon Falls installation -- was created to provide local guests and tourists with an up-close and unique experience.
The pop-up bridge is shaped like the letter 'Y.' The top of the 'Y' is the opening where guests can decide which way they want to enter. Ultimately everyone ends up at the bottom where the central waterfalls cascade over the bridge. At this point, each guests is given a personal view of the rich historical architecture of the fountain that was originally created in 1948.
Upon entering the bridge guests are supplied with light ponchos that mildly protect them from splashes of water and mist. Dantas comments that the "the structure is presented as an idea of transition to another reality."
