These pollution-detecting shirts will make wearers happy when their clothes are plain.
Designed by Nikolas Bentel, the 'Aerochromics' are a line of shirts that change colors and patterns when they come into contact with pollution such as "carbon monoxide, particulates and radiation in the air." The designer created these pollution-detecting shirts as a way to focus on the individual effects of pollution as well as individual experiences with it. When the air quality in a given space is pollution-free, the shirts remain dark and plain. When in polluted areas, the shirts change into different patterns to reflect that.
These innovative shirts could work to improve consumer consciousness with regards to air pollution, how to avoid it and how to reduce their impact on the environment.
