The V & A Museum in London will be showcasing objects designed to support political activism. The exhibition is called Disobedient Objects and will present examples of art and design that communicate political messages or facilitate protests.
The activist art being showcased was created by a range of non-professional designers. A graffiti-writing robot and a giant inflatable cobblestone made for throwing at police are just a couple of examples of the types of objects that the exhibition will focus on.
The exhibition is the first of its kind; it will cover objects and protests spanning form the 1970s to the present day. The exhibitions co-curator Gavin Grindon explains, "the actors changing the world are doing so using something that they have in their hands already." The objects in the exhibition will be alongside text explaining how the objects were conceived and how they were used.
