This polar bear mural is a project called 'Black Machine' and is the brainchild of the Teatro Colosseo, Square23 Gallery in Turin and a Swiss artist named Nevercrew.
This large-scale painting covers almost the entire facade of this Turin theater, taking months to complete. There is no reason given as to why a polar bear mural was chosen to adorn this theater facade, but its scale and detail are impressive nonetheless. The polar bear is painted as if the bottom half of its body is underwater while its upper body is above ground. The detail in the artwork is extremely accurate and lifelike, even perfectly mimicking the animal's textural qualities.
The Black Machine project is a rather innovative one and prominently features a street art team. Projects like this display how graffiti and street art can be worked into mainstream projects.
