Famous Japanese streetwear brand A Bathing Ape (BAPE) teamed up with New York-based Internet artist Adam Lister to produce classic BAPE logo shirts with a new spin using his signature 8-bit aesthetic.
BAPE’s globally recognized iconography is interpreted in 8-bit pixels as Lister's interpretation of the Ape Head logo comes in different forms on white t-shirts. The collection also includes camouflage prints.
Lister related his designs to "geometric hallucinations," which he considers to be "pixelated deconstructions of subjects which are then reassembled to produce a different perception of his ideas or images." Furthermore, he adds that "...these pictures exist at the intersection of cubism and 8-bit video games. Each painting treads a fine line between abstraction and representation. My work is heavily influenced by mathematics, minimalism, and pop culture."
The collection is set to launch on October 8th at select BAPE stores worldwide.
