Asian photographer Ren Hang recently put out his latest strange photography series focusing on hanging bodies positioned in odd contortionist shapes. While Hang's work is often described as fetishistic and bizarre, his images work to highlight and embrace the natural beauty of bodies.
Hang's images are works of contemporary art as well as pieces of political activism. Hang openly opposes the rigid conformity and concealing of the body in Chinese culture so his images work to subversively expose the body. In this particular series, Hang focuses on hanging bodies having his models dangle from tree branches or across beds. While many of Hang's images are banned in China, his talent precedes him in Europe and North America. His work very reminiscent of the famous Chinese dissident and artist, Ai Wei Wei.
