The 'Elderly E Phone' is a phone for seniors that lets you call people through facial recognition. Designed for those with deteriorating memory, the phone can scan pictures of faces to retrieve pre-set numbers. As a result, users simply have to remember the face of the person they want to call instead of their name or phone number.
Using basic facial recognition, a circular scanner on the top of the phone can recognize faces. All you have to do is keep a contact list filled with pictures of people that you would want to call. When you want to make a call, just open up your list and look for the correct face.
The phone was designed by a team at East China Normal University headed by Prof. Dai Yunting for the Red Dot Awards.
