New Packaging for the Philips LED Bulb Turns into a Lampshade

Designed by Franciska Juhasz, this unique packaging for a Philips LED bulb is both energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Designed as part of a school project at Visart, this innovative packaging scheme utilizes the material and design of the box to transform into its very own lampshade. The idea behind this project was to reimagine how packaging can be integrated into the final use of a product in a way that mirrors the features of the content of the package.

The Philips LED bulb packaging functions for three different models of the bulb and follows the environmentally friendly spirit of the bulbs. Comprised of plastic, the package involves multiple strips that can be pulled down to create a shade for the bulb. This function is designed to be used multiple times and was done because the material used in manufacturing is not renewable. While the entire package for the Philips LED bulb is made of plastic it does not use any glue, which can be incredibly harmful to the environment.
