Studio Philippe Apeloig has recently released the new design for the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and it is quite minimalist.
One of the goals for the project was to represent the contrast of light and dark with the building. This was done through using a monochromatic color palette, with a black background and white sections for a contrasting effect. This is also meant to represent the sunlight that comes through the building in the daytime. To come up with this design, Philippe Apeloig used the words Louvre Abu Dhabi on a sheet of paper, and experimented with how he could incorporate this into the work. The result is an abstract version of the lettering, done in a simplistic manner that is not overwhelming. Photo Credits: designboom, apeloig
