Luxurious Leather Lampshades

Rawhide Interior Pieces by Pepe Heykoop are Socially Conscious

Pepe Heykoop is an eccentric Dutch designer whose work extends beyond art and into social responsibility. Pepe Heykoop collaborated with the Tiny Miracles Foundation and traveled to Mumbai in order to create these luxurious lambskin lampshades.

These leather lighting fixtures are the result of that trip, with Pepe Heykoop working alongside underprivileged women in the area. Vast numbers of employment opportunities were therefore created in the processing of these leather lamps.

Implications - My favorite aspect about these unique light fixtures is the fact that the frames are so evocative of skeletal bones and cob webs. It's almost as though they employed a gothic in the production of these things, even though the inspiration for them is anything but European.
