Deviating from either the flat or the typical pitched roof, the Pedervegen 8 residence has been built with two unusual projections towards its western end. Located in Norway, the dwelling is a single-level house with just one bedroom, into which the owners hoped to draw great amounts of sunlight.
The solution of Rever & Drage Architecture was to integrate light wells: one would face the sunrise and the other, the sunset; one services the bathroom and the other, the bedroom. Warm rays are drawn in and down, illuminating the features of each space from above. On the outside of the Pedervegen 8 cottage, the skylights take the shapes of quarter-circular protuberances that are quite prominent and very unique.
