This Firm in Seattle Proposed a Plan to Build a Park Over a Busy Freeway

Patano Studio Architecture has proposed a park design that will see parts of Interstate-5 highway covered by a park. The park design hopes to convert a two-mile section of the highway into a mixed use area that will improve a number of issues for metropolitan Seattle.

The park will act as a cap over the highway which will reduce noise pollution, physically connect portions of the city, improve air quality and provide more public space. The park will also be accessible by public transit and will encourage its use, as well as increased pedestrian areas. The park design is part of larger plan that also makes room for an expansion of the existing Washington State Convention Center and the creation of a 20,000 seat hybrid stadium that can house a possible NBA and NHL franchise.
