Insect-Killing Origami Crafts

This Paper Origami Boat is Infused with a Natural Mosquito Killer

A student team from National Taipei University of Technology is proving that paper origami boats are good for more than just decoration.

The 'Hope Offer' boats serve as toys for kids that also double as an insect repellent solution. The origami boats tackle issues that begin with bugs at the source, by being infused with a plant-based repellent that naturally kills off young mosquito larva that live in the water. Considering that there are disease-carrying insects that are responsible for taking many lives in undeveloped countries, a simple solution like this has the potential to save a lot of people, while also leaving water untainted by harmful chemical ingredients.

For their ingenious design, the student group of six received an iF Public Value Award 2016.
