The reason behind the name of PACMAN by AND-RE is pretty obvious. Its spherical shape is a dead giveaway. As soon as a person learns of the purpose of this globular object, it becomes even clearer. A series of public garbage and recycling receptacles, these containers gobble up anything and everything passersby decide to feed them. If only they were actually part of a game that inspired people to be more careful when it came to littering.
PACMAN by AND-RE may not be available in an all-yellow version, but the section of colors that each one does have serves a greater purpose. They inform users what items should be placed in which container. The concept was awarded the Iberian Urban Equipment Prize in the Urban Furniture category.
