Designer-Made Space Patches

Obey Creator Shepard Fairy is Making Outer Space Fashion for CASIS

Most know Shepard Fairy as an activist and street artist who helms the multi-million dollar clothing company Obey, but with his latest patch work project for CASIS, Fairy will be adding outer space fashion designer to his long title too.

The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space hired Fairy, known for his stencil-inspired designs and poster-like graphic work, to craft this patch for CASIS' first ever sponsored payload mission. Fairy, responsible for creating President Barack Obama's viral HOPE campaign, designed this patch to pay tribute to the CASIS launch, officially titled Advancing Research Knowledge 1 (ARK1).

You can definitely see Fairy's distinct style in this marvel of outer space fashion and hopefully it won't be too long before we start to see more designers being recruited to help usher style into space.
